PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico, October
10, 2009 – The second day of competition at the
III NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit tournament
favored the Mexican female teams since two of
their teams qualified for the last round and two
men’s teams from Canada will also compete for a
potential tournament victory.
Team Mexico 1, made up of Mayra
Garcia and Bibiana Candelas, claimed victory
over team Mexico 2, integrated by Diana Estrada
and Martha Revuelta in three sets with partial
scores of 21-12, 23-25, and 15-16.
In the qualification round, team
Mexico 2 earned their pass after defeating
Puerto Rico of Yarleen Santiago and Darian
Acevedo with partial scores of 21-17, 23-25, and
15-12.
Canada eliminated team Mexico 4,
represented by Vanesa Virgen and Polet Cruz with
partial scores of 21-15, 19-21, and 16-14, while
Cuba of Ion Canet and Milagros Crespo defeated
Mexico 3 of Rosario Reyes and Xitlali Herrera by
score of 21-16, 21-11.
In the men’s category, team
Mexico 1 made up of Aldo Miramontes and Juan
Virgen, overtook Puerto Rico’s Roberto Rodriguez
and Orlando Irrizary with partial scores of
21-17, 16-21, and 15-9.
Cuba’s Yoendry Kinderlan and
Yunieski Ramirez secured their pass to the
finals after defeating Seth Burnham and Marcin
Jagoda from the United States in two straight
sets with a score of 21-15 and 21-11.
Team Canada 1, integrated by
Josh Binstock and Matt Zbysewski, made it to
the finals after imposing their victory over
Puerto Rico’s Roberto Rodriguez and Orlando
Irrizary with partial scores of 21-15 and 22-20.
Finally, team Canada 2,
represented by Raymond Sewell and Martin Reader,
managed to win over the team from the United
States 21-16, 21-15.
